Meet National Makeup Artist James Webb of CHANEL
Today we had the fortunate opportunity to meet CHANEL’s newest National Artist James Webb of San Diego Ca. He shared tips on how to brighten and create depth around the eyes by using a couple of products in unexpected ways.
de chanel illuminating base

Dab a little on the back of your hand with a dab of concealer. It softens the concealer creating a natural looking finish. Use it anywhere you would normally apply concealer but James especially uses this tip to brighten under the eyebrow by applying directly on the brow bone. It highlights and softens at the same time.

Also after applying lip color clean up edges. Create clean lines without looking like you used concealer
This one little bottle can be leveraged in so many ways, here’s how…
Obviously it’s a base before foundation. It brightens and gives the face a natural looking moist glow. Then use it later in the day for touch ups to smooth out foundation.

I love eye shadow creams because of their long wear abilities, on a hot day they won't melt off your face but they tend to dry out in the jar. Again dab ILLUMINATING BASE on the back of your hand but this time mix with your favorite eye shadow cream. It smooths out the cream and makes for easy application…no clumps.

James recommends applying contouring powder in the eye lid crease, this deepens the eye yet still looks very natural. I'm going to try this tip on days I don't want to take the time to apply eye shadow.

When getting a rare treat like this watch and learn! Always take advantage of expert advice and don't be afraid to ask questions. One should always learn something new at these sessions. I like to take short videos and watch them again as I'm trying to recreate the look.
James Webb gives new mom Maritza Rios natural looking yet easy to apply make up tips by highlighting her best attributes.

James takes the time to select palettes that work best with your skin and hair tone.

CHANEL Inspired look for less

My CHANEL inspired look for less. Any time I see woven expensive looking fabrics I buy it!
Woven top with fringe $40 at Zara, pink ruffle skirt $50 at Zara, chiffon high collar blouse $80 from Macy’s Karl Lagerfeld collaboration.
Long fresh water pearls $40 each string layered with a one CHANEL necklace completes this look, I think Karl would approve.

As always special thanks to Laura West, CHANEL skincare and makeup expert, and Stacey Taloujion, CHANEL makeup counter manager, for this lovely event and always taking care of us!
