7 Skincare Tips if you’re Over 40

7 Skincare tips if you're over 40

I’ve been getting many compliments and questions lately on my skin so I decided to share my skincare regiment. I’ve been using the same products but recently learned that I wasn’t using my cleanser properly. After a quick lesson I learned the key to unlocking the full potential of Chanel’s Essential Comfort Cleanser.

1 - sublimage essential comfort cleanser

Sublimage Essential Comfort Cleanser by CHANEL after continuous rubbing transforms from gel into a silky oil that not only moisturizes but breaks down dirt and oil that clogs pores.

The key is to give enough time for the product do the work. Gently rub until gel turns into an oil texture then I like to let it stand for at least 15 mins. At night while watching TV and in the morning while preparing breakfast, find time in your daily routine to cleanse.

A good cleanse will allow other products better penetration and minimize pore size.

Apply to face and neck. Cost is $100 and will last 9 months.

2 - Exfoliate with peter thomas roth acid peel

Exfoliate with Peter Thomas Roth’s 40% Triple Acid Peel. Sounds scary but it’s not! I use this once a week 15 to 10 mins on the face only (no neck).

This is a liquid contained in individual capsules. Gently spread it all over the face with a round rough pad and start a timer.

Cost is $88 for 12 doses, available at Sephora.

3 - PUrifying cream mask

Purifying Cream Mask after cleansing and exfoliating or just after cleansing if you are doing this more than once a week. This mask tingles and grabs dirt and oil as it dries.

Extra Tip, if you have large pores on your nose like me apply the mask just to the nose each morning after cleansing. It will help minimize pores and oil that develops throughout the day.

Cost is $50 and lasts almost 12 months.

4 - Hydra Beauty Micro SErum

Hydra Beauty Micro Serum also by CHANEL is super moisturizing. Composed of tiny balls that burst into the skin during application this is one of the best moisturizers and isn’t greasy. It hydrates and tightens/lifts.

Apply to face and neck. Cost is $110 and lasts 6 months

5 - distilled water

Water, sounds basic but truly important for healthy skin. Only distilled, I prefer Arrowhead or Smartwater which is distilled with added electrolytes.

Quantity is equally important, calculate your daily minimum = half your body weight in ounces, i.e. if you weigh 100 lbs. divided by 2 is 50 ounces. Measure it and take small sips throughout the day, do not guzzle.

Offset any caffeinated drinks with the same amount, i.e. if you drink 1 cup of coffee then drink 1 cup of distilled water in addition to your daily minimum.

Do not consume anything with corn syrup it’s one of the most difficult substances to break down. Anything the body can’t breakdown will be excreted through the skin in the form of acne.

6 - stay out of the sun

Never expose your face directly to the sun and always wear sun block. UV rays reflect from all directions not just from above.

I know these products are costly but this is your face we're talk'n about and it certainly cost less to prevent wrinkles rather than trying to get rid of them with lasers and surgery.

If you're on a budge at a minimum I recommend CHANEL’s comfort cleanser, distilled water and avoiding the sun.

7 - Stem cell technology

If cost is not an issue and you’re looking for the latest in skincare technology then Sublimage L’Extrait by CHANEL contains plant stem cells that are proven to regenerate skin.

Apply at bedtime once a week or twice a week max. Don’t overdo it, there's no need and you will just be wasting product.

Cost is $650 and lasts roughly 6 to 9 months.

Lastly wear your best blush color, mine is pink. Not sure how to find yours? Match your blush with the palm of your hand. It should blend naturally and look like part of your skin.
